Classes and Club Coming 2009
We are busy putting together our classes and clubs for 2009. Here is a sneak peek. We will begin sign-ups for these and others at our Fall Festival, October 18th.
The following clubs are designed to meet 6 or more times through out the year. The schedule will be posted soon. The clubs are designed around a central theme and some clubs around a central project. Some clubs are designed to be lecture/ sharing/ demo style rather than members bringing machines and sewing and some will include working on the project during the club meeting. We are excited about our club offerings and hope you will find a club for you. We all learn best from each other!
SATURDAY SAMPLER CLUB- Join us the first Saturday of the month or the Friday before the first Saturday of the month and hear about all the great things going on at Lavender Lime. Each month you will receive a kit to make a beautiful block. At the end of the year, you will have 12 blocks. We have a great announcement for our Saturday Sampler 2009. The kits will include BATIK FABRIC. We are so excited. The blocks will be beautiful. You can join us for the whole year for only $10.00. Not $10.00 per month. The $10.00 is for the whole year! Our club will meet on Friday at 4:00 or Saturday 9:00-12:00. If you have to miss a meeting, you can still get your block. You will have to pay $5.00 if you miss. We have a great time. Join us!
GRANDMOTHER'S CLUB- This club will be a fun time for all those interested in projects relating to little ones. You don't even have to be a grandmother to join. We will have great ideas for projects for those special little ones in your life. Of course we will have show and tell. (You can even show those pictures from your Grandmother's brag book). Join Ruth Ann Keebler as she leads this fun group. She will pass along tips and ideas that will make those special projects even more special. She will present 6 specific projects with samples. You will have a great time in this club!
BACK HOME AGAIN CLUB- This club was designed by national teacher, quilt artist and fabric designer, Kaye England. The Progressive Patchwork Program can improve your machine piecing techniques. Jayne Henson will lead this club. Join Jayne as she gives you precision piecing techniques as well as block finishing techniques. She will teach you about speciality rulers as well as other tools that will improve your precision. This club will include a project, The Back Home Again quilt. The quilt is beautiful and the fabric is lovely. You can view the fabric at www.wilmingtonprints.com. Look for the Back Home Again line. If you are interested in improving your piecing skills, this is the club for you.
JO'S LITTLE WOMEN CLUB- Join Melissa Wexler as she takes you back to 19th century quilting. This club is based on Jo Morton's reproductive quilting style. Jo is a national teacher as well as pattern and fabric designer. Her fabrics are also designed in reproduction style. The patterns for this club will include 2 small projects and a beautiful medallion style quilt in 4 parts. Melissa will lead you in the best techniques that will help you in this style of quilting. These techniques include; hand quilting, hand piecing, hand applique as well as other techniques. Your project does not have to be completed by hand, so some machine techniques will be discussed and demonstrated. Improve your technique as you have a great time with other quilters.
ART QUILTER'S CLUB- Do you like to design your own quilts? Are you a fan of contemporary style quilting? If so, the Art Quilter's Club is for you. Join Brenda Cregger as she helps you step out on that limb and add some creativity to your quilts. Brenda will show you some of the many products out there to add whimsy and fun to your quilts. She will have special "Art Quilter" guests who will share their experiences of quilting "Out of the Box". Learn a little about EQ, the software that will allow you to design your own quilts. This club will include an "Art Quilter's Challenge" for all those members wishing to participate. The details will be available at the first club meeting with final challenge quilts due at the last club meeting. Have fun with Brenda and other art quilters as you get inspiration and ideas from your fellow art quilters.
BERNINA CLUB- Now that you have the world's finest machine, how can you maximize the use of your machine? Come to Bernina Club for ideas that will inspire you to make the most of your Bernina machine. We will share project ideas and more. This club is free if you purchased your Bernina at Lavender Lime.
(This club will meet monthly) HERITAGE QUILT CLUB- Would you like to make a true heirloom quilt. Spend 1 night per month with Michele Whetstone, a Jenny Haskins Accredited Teacher as she takes you through the process of completing Jenny's Heritage Quilt. The quilt is spectacular and can be viewed at www.jennyhaskins.com. The quilt is a combination of 16 blocks that include machine embroidery and some of Jenny's time honored techniques. Some of these techniques have not been published previously. Nothing is embroidered directly onto the quilt. Instead, Jenny employs a simple technique she calls Embroidered Decoupauge. This technique and the others taught in this book will produce an exquisite quilt that appears much more complicated to make than it actually is.
